I also owned a 338 EDGE and wasn't impressed with any brass that was available at the time (nosler and Rem). My gun liked to chew them up.

According to the thread the .338 Norma Magnum with a COAL of 3.6" can better the .338 Lapua Magnum (provided the COAL is 3.6") with less powder, indicating a more efficient design. The thread is massive, almost hitting 12 pages, but there is a wealth of info in there. The advantages of the 300 Norma over the 300WM are another 10 grains of water case capacity and the availability of Lapua brass. Berger loads the 230 Hybrids ~125 fps faster in the Norma than the WM. That'll cost 1/4 to 1/3 of the WMs barrel life. In practice, it's like moving a 2000 yard target about 100 yards closer.
Here is the short answer: The 338 Norma Magnum has more energy than the 300 Norma Magnum making it better for hunting big game. The 300 Norma Magnum has less drop, less wind drift, and also less recoil than the 338 Norma Magnum making it better for long range shooting.I've shot the 300 PRC side by side with a 338 Lapua in the gentle Nebraska breezes at 2K. Blowing 17-20 that day. I did not feel under gunned. And yes I have a 300 Norma also but I'd rather throw 75-80 grs. of powder in the case vs 90+ Speaking in pure accuracy terms 30's will always be more accurate than a 338.
