Holo Taco is really good! They carry multiple base coat options, and their Super Glossy Taco (top coat) goes on like a dream and thumb is dry before I’m done painting my pinky! The one-coat-black for example, sure it may be opaque in one coat but it looks painful to apply. Something like China Glaze Liquid Leather is a great black - nice consistency and opaque at two coats. Wear gloves if washing dishes and always have at least a clear coat in the shower. polish protects the nail, it's like adding an extra cushion. cuticle oil (jojoba, vitamin e) is to be used frequently. nail strengtheners/hardeners are to be avoided. Rigid stiff nails will snap and break when hit on a hard surface.

Acetone is much better and much faster at removing polish than nail polish remover. It also doesn't contain water: the worst chemical for our nails.
