Alchemists have a rough first 3 levels, poisoners and bombers are solid combat options and have huge utility. The other thing people mess up is if they go bomber, they always choose to avoid hitting allies with splash, vs getting them to invest in resistance rings or similar and happily throwing out 10ft splash radius bombs.
