I have the UBP-X700 and have the same issue. It never freezes when playing DVDs or BluRay - only UHDs. It froze on TopGun UHD purchased brand new. But when I cleaned the disc, it worked fine. It seems to be a thing with UHDs in that they need to be cleaned before being played even when they are new.

I use Sony Music CDR. I normally use TDK, but for some reason, they are not available at the stores I shop at.
