Chevy malibu cranks but wont start.

My 2006 Chevy Malibu Lt v6 3.5 L has trouble starting occasionally. At the first start up in the day or anytime it has sat and cooled down for a long time the car starts up instantly. But when it's warm it will crank a bunch of times really fast and won't start unless I press down on the accelerator and then it's starts up right away.2012 Malibu, 2.4, 68k miles. It cranks, there is power everywhere, but it just won't start. The first time it happened it was an "only mostly dead" battery, towed to the shop, replaced battery and off we went.
