My shotgun was ID'd as a 1927 Ithaca Lefever Nitro Special, 20 gauge SxS. Thanks again to the folks that helped ID my gun. Looking at the barrels, I found "Lefever Nitro Special" imprinted on the right barrel and "Lefever Arms Co., Ithaca, NY" on the left barrel. The gun is a 12 gauge, and, of course, the barrels were cut down shorter (20 5/8") most likely due to a bulged or badly dented barrel in the past.

Is that correct? At that date would the chambers have been factory cut for 2-3/4" shells?I just bought a Lefever Nitro Special 12ga with 30" barrels. S/N indicates manufacture in 1927. BEAUTIFUL gun. Superb mechanical condition. The bone charcoal case hardening is still quite visible on the bottom, and just a bit worn off on the sides. Checkering is still visible, but worn down quite a bit.
