Alchemist has high intelligence but investigator gets way more skill feats. I'm the investigator in my party and I juggle through dishing out good damage and spamming recall knowledge on basically anything. Sometimes I heal too. They're different and you should focus on each playstyle and find what you prefer.
The Alchemist has some exceptions compared to the other classes in PF2: - it's Key Ability Score isn't used for its offensive actions. It doesn't use INT to attack so that is a pitfall for class effectiveness.
