I agree with you on the basis that Philemon and Nyarlathotep are the strongest beings we know exist and they're Tatsuya's equals but Tatsuya is also the only protag who ever fails and he suffers arguably a worse fate than Makoto who is a door. The protags in the other games can also draw power from bonds.
