Because there will be a lack of energy to the plug, there will be no spark at the gap and your outboard motor will generally not start. And if it does, then it is going to be shaking or misfiring pretty badly.

Jun 22, 2018 · I'm looking over my wiring schematic (dt140), and the only power to gray wire comes from the switch. You should get 12v on gray wire when key is turned to first position, start-ignition position, and choke position, although with EFI system (no carbs) the computer automatically does the choke function, pressing the key switch doesn't do anything (no choke solenoid).
