To adjust valves or not. The thing is, if a valve gets tight enough it will damage the head & you'll know it, but you won't hear it. They HAVE to be inspected. All the guessing & internet searching can't tell you if it's needed. Saying that, I have done several V-6 valve adjustments, & unlike the 4 cyl, I have never found a valve dangerously tight.
Don't need to remove the wheel. Honda recommends the valves be checked at 105K. Pushing it to 150K is fine, but they should definitely be checked at 150K. The biggest issue isn't the intake valves that become looser and louder over time, it's the exhaust valves which become tighter and you won't notice or hear them.#1 · Nov 16, 2021. Our Pilot has a little over 100k now. Valve adjustment was done last year with timing belt, tensioner, etc. Engine is smooth and quiet. Can barely hear it running when it is in the garage. This is why I don't buy used cars anymore - the savings is eaten up in time and money fixing\rectifying other people's idiocy.
