That said, the updates to the Tikka T3X are welcomed changes, and did not affect the quality or performance of the rifle. Upgrading the materials of parts such as the recoil lug and the bolt shroud, were needed improvements.

They offer a model with the same type of specs as the Tikka in the same price range. Masterpiece Arms makes one that fits my needs, but that's in the low $3k area, a little out of my range. I have heard good things about them though. Edit: also found the Armalite AR31, meets all the wants, but has an 18 inch barrel.

CZ 457 has more aftermarket barrel support options. Tikka T1X currently has barrels coming from International Barrels (IBI) and are sold for $325 USD from Canada. My barrel came off w/o any issues. CZ Pro Varmint is $588 MSRP, and Tikka is $469, so it's $100 more you can work with on a scope for base class over the CZ.
