Remington has a 45-70 round with a 405 grain jacketed bullet. It's safe, accurate, and for the most part, available where ever you buy every other rifle ammo. Winchester has a similar round. The factory loads with same bullet show 2,050 FPS also. After trying a lot of different powders in the 45-70, and getting some spectacular results, I can assure you that 4198 is about as good as it gets. I've gotten as good results with Rel7 and 5744. They will all shoot 1moa off a good rest.

It is a high pressure powder. If you load it to little you cause a high pressure problem, if you load it to much you cause a high pressure problem. Hodgdon does not even list a load with it.
