If the roads are dry, all the North Shore beaches can be accessed with a non-4WD. You'll just be limited in being able to use some of the side of the road parking where the drop offs can be significant. I think it is about 90 miles long. You can go all week and never loose sight of land but sail for 3-4 hours a day and spend the morning or afternoon at a different mooring on a different island. With the USVI there are 3 main islands. The sail from St. Thomas to St. Croix is a little longer than up drake's channel.

If you expect beach service or accommodations or typical night time frivolity, STJ is not your place.

Starfish is the most consistent option for lobster on St. John. Yes to Calabash for local fish as well as great Mediterranean dips. Dave’s Coral Bay Fresh Market has fresh fish that he vacuum packs. I just uploaded our results and want to make sure I did things properly. First, there is a question about whether you are boarding a vessel or sailboat. I said no, but afterwards I realized we are boarding the ferry to St. John.Save. Just visited Denis Bay- not a great path to carry much- narrow and slippery in spots with trees so you have to duck at times, but it's doable if you had to I suppose.
