Although the Uchigatana is reliable and good because it can be buffed, personally I think the Frayed Blade is a straight upgrade. Sure, it can't be buffed, but its AR is high with good dark damage, has a fantastic weapon art with a built in ranged attack, and still gets the same two hit stunlock combo as the Uchi.
